CIDB is the principal agency for contractors’ registration in Malaysia. Local and foreign contractors with or intend to bid in construction projects must registered with CIDB. Contractors are registered based on their share of company, whether it is local or foreign owned. There is no categorisation of foreign contractors’ registration. However, local contractors are categorised from Grade 1 (G1) to Grade 7 (G7).
In general, there are 3 types of contractors’ registration at CIDB. Each type is the precursor of the other. The 3 types of contractors’ registration are:
Workers in the construction industry at Malaysia are required to be registered with CIDB. This is done via the Construction Personnel Registration Card, commonly known as ‘Green Card’. Through this mechanism, construction personnel are continuously monitored.

Certification of Construction Product and Material (CCPM) portal is the platform for online registration and listing of the approved construction products and materials as prescribed in the Fourth Schedule of CIB Act 520 (Amendment) 2011.
The requirement of Construction Products and Materials Manufacturer Module is to integrate with CCPM in order to provide dynamic reports, list and search function on construction products and material manufacturers.
Industrialised Building System (IBS) is a mechanical building system for construction works. At CIDB, IBS is developed to encourage construction by using manufactured components in factory and assembled on the construction site.
This process is faster, requires less workers and waste, with faster implementation. This ensures quality and more efficient than the current conventional construction work.
Quality Assessment System for Building Construction Works (QLASSIC) is a quality standard for building construction works, and is based on the Malaysian Construction Industry Standard (CIS) 7: 2014. QLASSIC is a percentage based-assessment, and is used to evaluate the construction quality of the building.
Safety and Health Assessment System in Construction SHASSIC is developed with references from the relevant safety and health acts and regulations. Construction projects are greatly encouraged to apply for SHASSIC assessment to ensure that the safety and health aspect are being complied.

3. Machinery Hire Rates & Equipment Purchase Prices
4. Cost Index
This information was collected with the assistance of construction associations, distributors, suppliers, which includes hardware shops and manufacturers. The data were verified for validity. Each prices were based on specific locations (state/ district) and were aggregated into Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak. The data provides valuable information on the cost and prices in the construction industry.

The Malaysian Carbon Reduction and Environmental Sustainability Tool (MyCREST) is a rating tool developed on carbon emissions to the built environmental. Unlike other existing rating tool/ standard, MyCREST covers new and existing building. For existing building, MyCREST certification could be renewed every 3 years.
